Peanut butter sandwiches

The place to kick back, relax, post general bullshit, and grill a few on the BBQ. Whatever doesn't fit into another forum would go here. We periodically go through and move posts to the correct forum, but we do charge a case of Beer every time we have to.

Peanut butter sandwiches...yes...they are no longer allowed in local schools....because of those possessing peanut allergies...

I call this blatant discrimination of the worst kind...

they're not banning all products that are processed in non-peanut-free facilities...just the staple sandwich meat of parents everywhere the good ole' loyal peanut butter and peanut butter and jam / jelly sandwiches...

rotten buggers I say...off wit' their heads!

Policitally Correct Cretins over here have banned school kids from playing with conkers due to "health and safety" and a range of other harmless games such as hopscotch and leapfrog are also banned.

Poole, Dorset has banned a real christmas tree from being displayed as its dangerous.

Conkers. I often wondered what those were. Horse Chestnuts. Over here we call 'em road apples.

Oh, wait, yours are really nuts, not horsey droppings.

Peanut butter is great. If I've having a packet of those noodles as a quick feed a spoon of peanut butter makes it taste loads better.

Good in a stir fry too.

Just thought I's go beyond the sandwich theme.

It's unfortunate, but at least one of your kids isn't keeling over from having an:
The Allergic (Anaphylactic) Shock Reaction
This reaction can begin and proceed rapidly, occasionally proving fatal within minutes. It must be treated with epinephrine immediately at the first signs of reaction, and the reaction may recur after initial therapy so that ongoing observation and care are required. Possible symptoms of reaction to peanuts may include (not necessarily in this order):

* sense of foreboding, fear, or apprehension
* flushed face, hives, swollen or itchy lips, mouth, eyes, or tongue
* tightness in mouth, chest or throat
* difficulty breathing or swallowing, drooling, wheezing, choking, coughing
* running nose, voice change
* vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pains
* dizziness, unsteadiness, sudden fatigue, rapid heartbeat, chills
* pallor, loss of consciousness, coma, death
My son no longer goes to school and so doesn't have to worry about this, but when he was 10, I had to rush him to a hospital because he had eaten an old cashew that you get for 25 cents out of the bubble gum machines...after that he had to take the big horse needle to school in case of going into shock...

Now I love peanut butter and cheese whiz sangies, in fact I love peanuts period...but the kids today are developing allergies at an alarming rate, never had this issue or it was very rare when I went to school and traded my peanut butter and grape jelly for peanut butter and normal jam...

So PC aside, unless the school wants to have kids flopping around all over the place they have to be very careful, so too me, they are erring on the side of caution...yep it sucks, but what are you gonna do...

Used to be conkers champ when I went to school in Havant, takes real art and skill to have a super conker.....Beano anyone.... :good:

Hah! That's actually what first came to mind when I read Eg's post. Such a classic. My wife is still astonished that I know every word to a song she didn't know existed.
