My Kids are nice - apparently!

Kevin and I went to a parent teacher thing at the high school last night and listened in shock to all the nice things they said about the kids. I asked one teacher (who has a sense of humour), if he had one of my boys mixed up with another child

The kids apparently do all their work, are kind and considerate, listen  and are all in the top third of their respective classes. This is all good stuff btw and I'm very proud of them, but I wonder why they don't do all their chores without a fuss, never listen, try and kill each other on a regular basis etc.,

The joys of parenthood.

hell Ally.. some parents think they are doing well getting grunt once a week out of any of their kids..

quick write a book about what you do before the kids learn too much more from the other kids and the TV

Typical kids, in school they are saints and at home they're the spawn from ... Well that's maybe a bit too harsh :D ... But it's typical though ... In school they are behaving like they should, so at home they think they don't have to anymore

Five quid says every single one of you was like that to a degree as teenagers.

Well I was never really top at my school (The joy's of just above average intelligence in a grammar school, and no real motivation at times :D)

Though I am nice to my parents..

LMAO - they can grunt along with the best of them Undertaker.

Fortunately, two out of the three are into sports and they love motorbikes. The other one (teenage girl) is a real nerd, but she won't admit it

Spawn of the devil  I have wondered if that might be the case on a couple of occasions.

I should probably be thankful that they behave in public, so many of the kids today are complete a**eholes.

Bite your tongue! I was a lovely child, I also tell lies

School doesn't really equip one for the outside world. I learned things in school that haven't been the slightest bit of use to me since.

Agreed.

Like why the hell did I ever need to learn about how a plant takes in water?

And I agree most kids are badly behaved in public, almost had a go at a parent yesterday about the behaviour of her kids (small 4 year olds running around screaming, pushing past me and my mate without saying excuse me).

I'm 20 now and I am shocked at how few manners there are compared to me and my friends :S

You really haven't lived long enough then.. have you..

the reason teenagers think they know everything isnt so much as that they do.. but they incorrectly assume they wont live long enough to use all of it..

Me and mine are always amazed when we drop off the little ones at sitters, grandparents or school. Everyone always says "Their such polite, well mannered..."

And we're like, Uh WTF are you talking about.

The dogs nails are pink, there isn't a wall in our house that doesn't have some type of (what looks like) prehistoric drawing, and the first word out of the boys mouth - if you can get him to answer is NO - He's going to make a fine sysadmin!
