Anyone have datacenters in Sandy's Path

The place to kick back, relax, post general bullshit, and grill a few on the BBQ. Whatever doesn't fit into another forum would go here. We periodically go through and move posts to the correct forum, but we do charge a case of Beer every time we have to.

Planes, Trains, and Buses are shutting down. But we can't close the data centers. Anyone in disaster management mode?

not me, UK based, but got family living underneath it

I would hope Data Centres would have allowed for the possibility of a little excess precipitation, but it do look like its gonna be nasty
I DO understand D/R and Dis/Man but apart from a 'war room' hot swap for a rather large conglomerate, it's all just theory to me

I would imagine a lot of CIO's and that ilk will be twitching a little when it does hit?

Not me....I think we may experience intermittent internet with rolling power outs being close to Toronto which is in its path...although should have slowed to 50 miles per hour by then Weds 3 am when expected.

Network is UPSed...server shuts down after half hour of power loss...new server....haven't tested the UPS shut down yet :?

In theory it should work

The raggedy old remnants of Sandy will be over here in about two weeks. I just hope the sodding thing hasn't turned to snow by then. It'll be Hurricane Eck when it gets here (In Scotland Sandy = Alexander = Eck)

No issues here at all with Sandy...just a bit of wind, and I've seen it windier without a Hurricane. But we'll see what happens tonight.
