Have it WHO's way?!?

The place to kick back, relax, post general bullshit, and grill a few on the BBQ. Whatever doesn't fit into another forum would go here. We periodically go through and move posts to the correct forum, but we do charge a case of Beer every time we have to.

Have it WHO's way?!?

An Open Letter to Burger King, and the Franchisor who owns the (several) in my home town:

Ok Kingy, You and I have an issue. It involves one of your minimum wage flunkies.

Tonight I did my usual 'in a hurry to work' thing and bought lunch at one of your establishments. Two buck doubles and a value fries, as usual, nothing different other than I noticed a distinct LACK of suggestive sale techniques from the drive through lady and realized it wasn't the usual girl who's there.

So I get to the window, hand over my sawbuck (that's a $10 note for those of you who aren't from the US) and wait for my $6.75 change. No problems - right up until the lady hands me a fiver, and 4 quarters, and walks away to the fry counter. Ooops.

I wave her back to the window and ask her to recount the change, I think I've been shorted. In a very haughty tone she tells me "nope, that's a dollar coin. Our bank doesn't accept them." Well gee. Her bank doesn't accept them so I get stuck with this Susan B. Anthony mistake of our treasury department that I'll probably count as a quarter and give up? I don't think so.

"I don't accept them either," I responded patiently, "Please get me a dollar bill instead."

She gets a very torqued-off look in her eye and walks off to the manager's office, then returns, opens her register, and hands me a dollar bill. I thank her, and am immediately confronted with the "Our bank doesn't take those coins because their counters won't pick them up, and I didn't want to have to buy it out of my own pocket since all I have is a dollar..."

I said nothing, waited patiently on my food, and left.

Now Kingy, please tell the class....

If your BANK won't take it, Your Restaurant doesn't want it, and your cashier can't buy it, WTF makes you think I want the bloody thing in MY change, and WTF gives your cashier the right to argue with me about it when your restaurant chain supposedly PRIDES itself on "Have it MY WAY" ?!? Perhaps your new motto should read: "Have it your way, but only after we argue with you about the most assenine things."

*sigh* yet another case of customer service gone down the shitter. Were I her boss, she'd be unemployed, all over a stupid dollar coin and the lost income to her restaurant chain it caused.

The one thing a customer service specialist can never teach is 'being nice.'

Pah try going to London with Scottish banknotes.

Buggers won't take any of them sometimes. :angry1:

I've been put off fast food of late. I park out of town and get the bus in (£1 Vs £8 a day). Some guys also get the bus to work at the nearby McDs. I don't know if it's a cultural thing ,these guys are Indian or Bangladeshi immigrants. They're polite enough not got a problem there BUT....

They smell. Genuinely quite stinky. I don't want to buy food from someone who doesn't wash properly.
