Ahh and the media missed that one completly.. a Binary date.. but I suppose there are too many in a year, with 9 in a year..and once 2011 has passed the nerdy of us will not see this again untill 2100..

I wonder if there is a binary message hidden in this pattern..

BS over..

Have a good one guys..

hrm. binary dates - this year will have 9 of 'em -

010110, 011010, 011110, 100110, 101010, 101110, 110110, 111010, 111110(that one'll be fun).

As far as code, since it's not in octets, it won't translate to ascii, but I'm seriously curious now...
The dates, in order, translate to the following decimal numbers:
22, 26, 30, 38, 42, 46, 54, 58, 62

Interesting that they're ascending in 4's or multiples of 4. (4,4,8,4,4,8,4,4)

Any other observations I missed there other than the fact I'm sofa-king geeky that I keep binary tables lying around in my brain? Maybe a little factoid about calendars and the "4-4-8 factor?"

Ok, so I had a Geek Moment.

What I didn't realize was exactly HOW BIG a geek moment it was.

There's this cute guest that I've been sorta talking to over the past few stays here. She seems interested and interesting enough, but she is most definitely NOT a geek - not even knowing what binary code (or even base2 math) is.

And in my geekiness yesterday, because of the beauty of the pattern of numbers, I attempted to explain what I'd discovered to her....

The glossed-over stare was enough to tell me that I'm forever banished to her 'friend zone' and am temporarily in exile from that even until her synapses have recovered. Oh well, c'est la vie. My personal quest to find the ultimate geek girl will continue much easier without this tangent adventure.

Yet another new year's geek moment is upon me, since I continued to ponder those numbers and their pattern -

4,4,8 - the 8 occurs when the months shift -

Also - since 2011 is another 'binary year' that means 9 more dates. If anyone wants to put up the full 18 binary numbers and their corresponding decimal equivalents, I'm betting that the number increments will be the same 4,4,8 pattern, except where 2010 shifts to 2011.
