Georgia flooding

The place to kick back, relax, post general bullshit, and grill a few on the BBQ. Whatever doesn't fit into another forum would go here. We periodically go through and move posts to the correct forum, but we do charge a case of Beer every time we have to.

Georgia flooding

So the metro-Atlanta area is flooding. Schools are closed, several roads are out, and most of Atlanta is under a "boil water" advisory. The water level is supposed to reach 25 feet (the hundred year record is 25.8 feet) this evening and possibly higher tomorrow. My mom's basement has about two inches so far and we're supposed to get more rain overnight.

Seen some shots on CNN, that's brutal, fires out west and floods out east...seems like the middle might be the place to move to...I'm glad we are above sea level up here...hope everything turns out ok... :(

Been watching this on Weather Channel - and I'll deliver the bad news in case your local weatherdude hasn't yet: There's more coming your way. Stormline passed through Podunk last night and today, expect it tomorrow, then a half day of clear, then a HUGE arsed cold front coming through behind it, packing more major storms.

Bro, Get a rowboat - and paddle your arse out of there for a week or two.

I've heard that. Today the scope looks remarkably clear, but everyone keeps talking about the omens of what's coming. The plan is to clean up tomorrow before the next wave hits and try to make sure the water ways are clear. I lol'd about the rowboat bit. Probably not a bad idea!! Thanks for the heads up, it looks like you're in a particularly good spot to warn me of what's coming.

Firsthand info on the front - from your perspective with my inside knowledge (since it passed here about 4 hours ago) -

Rain for you tomorrow, intense at times - but it moves by fast, it's the southern air flow bringing moisture up from the gulf being pushed along by the front. This might go till Thurs morning, but then it dries up. Haven't had a drop here since about 9 this morning. When the front finally comes through you won't see a drop of rain from it, and a very nice drop in temperatures (can you say highs in the LOW 70's? woohoo!).

Weatherdooder's predicting rain again tomorrow, but he's been known to be wrong (he was about the actual front today). I'll keep ya posted.
