TAZ Lottery Group Join Up Thread

The place to kick back, relax, post general bullshit, and grill a few on the BBQ. Whatever doesn't fit into another forum would go here. We periodically go through and move posts to the correct forum, but we do charge a case of Beer every time we have to.

TAZ Lottery Group Join Up Thread

Post: # 107942Post Egaladeist

OK...here we go...

Every month participating members buy $20 worth of lottery tickets...doesn't matter what lottery...or what Country...

lottery must be a pay now...not a distributed over time lottery...if you do not have lotteries in your Country or only have the ones that do not pay up front then you can have another member buy them for you...

Total prize winnings during any given month:

total monthly prize amounts of $500 and under go into the TAZ Kitty via foxy's paypal ...

total monthly prize amounts over $500 get split as evenly as possible between participating TAZ members for that month...

all ticket numbers must be posted before the draw and ticket posts cannot be edited...

you must be a regular member of TAZ to participate...

you must spend $20 to participate in any months results. You do not have to participate every month.

example post below:

free ticket winnings...

free tickets are considered ' bonuses ' and must be played either in the same month or the following month. And be posted as a normal ticket purchase.

It's against U.S. federal law to participate in foreign lotteries

I AM NOT making this up.

Now that's just plain silly :D Canadians regularly buy US lottery tickets...and Americans regularly buy Canadian lottery tickets...

technically...yes...it's against the law in the US.

Well...eg. dino wouldn't be buying a foreign lottery ticket...he'd just be benefiting from one if we won :D

We'd be buying our own Countries tickets :D Legally eg. Mav can't buy a Canadian ticket but the law doesn't say he can't benefit from one...he just can't buy it himself :D

The law was to stop scamming...Federal anti-racketeering statutes

I don't think we qualify under those guidelines. If I buy a lottery ticket that wins $2000 there's no law that I am aware of that prevents me from sharing it with an American or visa versa.

I think we should go ahead with it...I can't find anything to verify that participating in an ' up-front ' group lottery thingy is illegal...all the laws regarding this that I've found relates to rackets/scamming.
Not about friends going in and sharing the results.

OK, this is a group or syndicate. Each member buys lottery tickets in their own country. Winnings are distributed between the members of the group. No one is buying a lottery ticket in another country this way (except where someone give someone else the $20 to buy the tickets). Even so, that is a stretch. It would be the same as if a bunch of folks got together at work and had a similar syndicate. If they hit the jackpot, they share the winnings. Moving a jackpot in and out of a country may be difficult, though. Since the US has this $10,000 limit. But the PayPal, or network of PayPals may help bypass some of that.

What this all boils down to is adults agreeing to participate and trust each other to play nicely and share. Ain't that what we all do anyway?
Rapier57.

Jayne: Testing. Testing. Captain, can you hear me?
Mal: I'm standing right here.
Jayne: You're coming through good and loud.
Mal: 'Cause I'm standing right here.
