I made it back safely. Saw some odd accidents, rode like hell through nasty weather, broke a couple of small parts on the bike, and got to change my rear tire on the last day. Suffice to say, I'm exhausted, sore, and tanned. I got my ~500 miles per day, but the journey took about 9-10 hours each day...

I'll be departing on Monday, so after tomorrow I'll be on the road. I'm wrapping up my route and gas stops tonight...the business search feature in Google Earth is useful for this...but the other built-in features suck. As far as camping goes...who knows, lol. The camping spots / national forests ar...

I too am thinking that our concept of certain objects being desirable are programmed into us by social influences. But I really think that some benefit needs to be received by the object being judged if we want to hold it in esteem. For example, in general people like flowers and they may be conside...

I got back...whew, that was quite the ride. My body still seems to be intact despite all of the shaking (though I can't feel much of my lower regions)...and nothing major fell off of the bike (though I think I lost a 1.25g wheel weight)... After that amount of shaking and rumbling, I think I am read...

I'm worried that the pace may be too much...but at the same time I don't want to trip to take too long. Slowing down would be better than landing in a hospital for a few days if I can't concentrate on the road. Yesterday my dad and I went and added more insurance to the bike and changed the title ov...

I lost a long-ish post that I was working on when my Xserver crashed, and a restart of it took out my laptop... I'll be on a 1995 Harley Davidson Sportster 883cc. http://files.timaxe.com/forums08/n40303460_31578362_4425.jpg My preliminary route was found with Google Earth, and compared to another si...

I wound up in Florida for the beginning of this summer with hopes of finding a summer job here (not much luck though), but I got offered something back in Idaho so I'm planning on going back. I'll get to do some programming and such, so it should be relatively fun. Instead of flying this time, I'm p...

If the position is available, I'd like to handle logistics...underground bunkers, missile silos, etc.

Never noticed this thread before... *wanders around*

I cooked up some chili for lunch yesterday...which is to say it was really just ground beef with tons of spices, seasoning, and tomatoes. Don't really like adding beans, they give me gas...

I was interested in the bill...after working through Florida's woefully bad senate website I found it: Senate 1992: Relating to Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles [EPCC] ... 549 Section 5. Whoever willfully displays on a vehicle an image 550 or device of reproductive glands, commits a n...

Considering the person's name was April...lol. Everybody's had their fair share of April Fools jokes...the ArchLinux webpage went entirely German, and replaced any mention of April Fools / 1st / Jokes in the forums with german festivals or national phrases...some good stuff all around.

I saw the History Channel's program on what if people just disappeared...I thought the premise was ridiculous in that when the clock struck some random time people instantly vanished, leaving pets locked in houses and cars running in the driveway (though I don't remember seeing a single car either i...

And here I thought that Automated External Defibrillator's were only used when it was obvious that someone was suffering from some sort of heart condition...which is true I guess...these aren't the things targeted by this article. Kinda makes me wonder about all of the people on diabetes medication....
