Re: I'm Crazy!

Nice to see you around again Harb. Over the years I learned about networking and programming. But it didn't really click until Napster came out all those years ago. Though I didn't use it, the model intrigued me and I did a bunch of research to find Gnutella, and got access to a web proxy node on th...

I'm supprised that Idaho & Nevada aren't on that list of states - there are members there too... :pleasantry:

Re: The R Project for Statistical Computing

I haven't used Octave in a long time. Some time back I found SciLab ( http://www.scilab.org/ ) which is considered much closer to MatLab. I didn't use it much under Linux, but now that I'm back on Windows I think I'll take the Win32 binaries out for a spin. SciLab & MatLab Comparison: http://www.num...

4. Don't put fracture surfaces back together again to see if they fit or allow corrosive environments (including rain and moisture from fingers) to reach the fracture surface.

Re: The Official Real Ale Recommendation Thread

I'm sitting here finishing up some Japanese beers, and you just have to go and post this! I've only recently discovered the BeerAdvocate website (http://beeradvocate.com/) and now that I'm leaving Japan I start to find slightly better stuff than what I've had before. Maybe next time I'll be more pre...

Re: We are back: if you were wondering why we were off-line

It seems to be a common PHPBB problem...I found a pretty nice post from a person who seems to be running a couple of busy websites and it explains how to get PHPBB in check... See: http://andrewjpage.com/index.php?/archi ... index.html

Re: And now the Manchurian microchip

There is so much FUD and misinformation in that article that it really is a chore to read. Discussed theoretically in high-tech security circles as "Trojan Horse on a Chip" or "The Manchurian Chip," Call Home Technology came to light after the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) launch...

Re: Bought a new telly?

I don't think anyone I know who has bought a 'new' LCD TV actually got one manufactured within the past 2 years b/c most of the <$500 TVs are at least 2-3 years old products (especially at the discount *marts). So this issue will probably show up in 1-2 years, despite affecting products built within...

We made a pretty good hit on the bar. The wedding started within 20 minutes of everyone arriving at our location (which was outdoors) with the bar, but I'd already had a nice strong long island and some coors light (poured into the same cup to keep the bottle out of sight) to get going. There wasn't...

Open Bar @ the Wedding

My roommate is preparing for his big day (today!). I got off work to visit and wish him well. By tonight him and his wife will be in a hotel awaiting their airplane ride to Jamaica in the morning. It's all pretty exciting, and I'm glad to be close enough to visit for this special occasion. As for th...

I saw Wall-E. The no dialogue for the first half of the movie was annoying, and when they actually introduce it boy is it painful. But what I liked about the film was how they pull you through the emotional extremes of being isolated, finding a friend, losing said friend, then venturing into the unk...
