Re: A discussion on U.S. Polotics

Thanks, Panama, for that information. It never occured to me that he was Canadian-born. Still, his parents are US Citizens, er, one was? Anyway, I find it interesting that his wife worked in the W White House for Condoleeza Rice (scarey person) and now works for Goldman, Sachs and Co. Yeah, they got...

Re: Facebook making it easier to exploit Teens

As a social site, Google+ has its own issues, but kids are gravitating toward some rather strange social sites that are coming around. Some of the sites are pretty wide open in what they allow and what the kids are exposed to. Beware.

Re: Facebook making it easier to exploit Teens

You're the exception, Dino. Most of what I see is just plain scarey. A friend of mine is a martial arts instructor. He holds a number of black belts (earned in the traditional way, by long years of study and practice). He wouldn't teach anyone under 12 years of age. I asked him why, once. Silly me. ...

Re: A discussion on U.S. Polotics

My hope is that we experience a voter revolt in the next couple elections. US politics are hard to understand, even for insiders. What this last bunch of events and grandstanding amounts to is the following: 1. The radical far right teabaggers (Tea Party), also known as the totally insane, just have...

Re: Facebook making it easier to exploit Teens

The age limit is 13. If someone is younger, someone must report them to have the account removed. I think there is a US law about child exploitation and Facebook had to set the age limit to 13 to abide by it. They don't police, though. Mercenary SOBs. For my part, anyone who allows a child to have a...

Facebook making it easier to exploit Teens

New policy on teen use of Facebook: http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/16/tech/social-media/facebook-teens-privacy/ Now they are more exposed to advertisers and stalkers than ever. And, my daughter came in tonight saying she knew kids of 8 or 9 who were on Facebook. I sent her a copy of the current ToS, jus...

Re: Morris Worm of 25 years ago

Keep in mind that the Morris Worm was written to take exploit vulnerabilities in UNIX, which, at the time, was the ubiquitous OS for mainframe systems. Here's a rundown on what it was and what it was for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_worm UNIX is the model after which Linux was designed, whe...

Google bypasses model release requirements

So, if you are on Google+, you evidently signed away your name and image for advertising purposes?

Morris Worm of 25 years ago

Old friend Spaf interviewed on Dark Reading:

Hard to believe that was 25 years ago. Morris still in prison. Read what Spaf has to say about it all. Great stuff.
