Major Oil Companies Compromised

I did not know this, but it appears several major US oil companies were compromised last year. The attacker was after "bid data", including detailed information about new oil fields around the world. The article tries to pin it on China, but the data linking it to China seems pretty weak. Despite th...

Re: Debate Topic: Dealing with Violent Criminals

Re: Debate Topic: Vegetarianism

Vegetarianism is the way to go. Meat makes people aggresive! And, yes, animals have rights - the right not to be slaughtered, often in an unpleasant way. Mike A pig wandered onto my buddy's yard and was making a lot of noise the other day. He killed and slaughtered it. Even made ribs out of it. He ...

Re: Debate Topic: Dealing with Violent Criminals

who wants to be the one to pull the switch/trigger/injection Sounds like Eg is up to the task! :D I don't think option #1 is truly an option (except in the most severe cases / most heinous crimes) for moral reasons and the possibility of rehabilitation. Granted this is not likely in our current "co...

Re: Debate Topic: Dealing with Violent Criminals

All sarcasm aside, Eg has a point. Locking them away indefinitely only places a drain on society. From a purely efficiency standpoint (all morality aside), there are only two solutions to this problem. 1) Kill them. 2) Use them. Option two would involve putting them to work doing productive things. ...

Satellite pic of Great Britain (1/7/10) after the front moved through and covered the entire country with snow. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/47061000/jpg/_47061196_greatbritainjpg.jpg *edit* Figured I'd add a tidbit. I had to work from home yesterday due to iced roads and our inability to d...

Re: What the heck is Google Wave

I played around with it a little today. It's interesting, but exceedingly slow. I'm sitting on a ridiculous amount of bandwidth at work and it's still slow to load.

My impression thus far is that it's a glorified forum for the masses. Still investigating...

Re: Top 10 free Windows tools for IT pros

Microsoft loves the ISO image format. From trialware versions of its OS products to its latest Patch Tuesday security fix collections, Microsoft distributes more software in the ISO format than any other vendor. So it comes as somewhat of a shock to learn that, as of Windows 7, the company still ha...
